The Valvoline Ultramax HLP 46 is the "sweet spot" of the premium Ultramax lineup. It combines the most popular industrial viscosity grade (46) with a high-performance, shear-stable additive package.Ultramax uses a more robust Zinc-based Anti-Wear (AW) system. This is critical for high-pressure piston pumps (like those from Bosch Rexroth or Eaton) where the oil film is under immense stress.It features superior demulsibility, meaning it separates from water much faster. This prevents the "milky" oil effect that can lead to rust and pump cavitation in outdoor equipment.Higher-quality base oils resist oxidation. In systems that run hot, standard oils can "cook" and leave a brown, sticky varnish on sensitive solenoid valves. Ultramax stays chemically stable longer.It is specifically tested for filterability. If your machine uses ultra-fine 3-micron or 5-micron filters, Ultramax is less likely to clog them compared to budget fluids.
