Toyota World Standard (WS) is a low-viscosity, high-performance automatic transmission fluid (ATF) designed for modern Toyota and Lexus vehicles. It was introduced around 2004 to improve fuel efficiency and shifting performance in electronically controlled transmissions.Lower than previous fluids (like T-IV) to reduce internal drag and improve fuel economy.It is a high-quality synthetic-blend or full-synthetic fluid (depending on the regional manufacturer) engineered for thermal stability.Toyota WS with older Toyota fluids like Type T-IV or Dexron III. They have different friction modifiers and viscosities that can cause shift issues or internal damage.Toyota officially states that for many models, the fluid does not require changing under normal driving conditions, only inspection every 100,000 miles (160,000 km).If you use the vehicle for towing, heavy loading, or constant stop-and-go driving in hot climates, most technicians recommend a drain-and-fill every 60,000 miles (100,000 km).
