Lucas Oil Octane Booster is a high-potency performance enhancer designed to raise the octane rating of gasoline by up to 3 full numbers (or 30 "points"). Unlike many standard fuel treatments, it is specifically formulated to handle high-compression, turbocharged, and supercharged engines where preventing "pre-ignition" (knocking/pinging) is critical.It can take 91-octane premium pump gas up to 94-octane, which allows engines to run more aggressive timing or higher boost levels.It contains lubricants that protect piston rings and valve seats, reducing friction and extending the life of the top end of the engine.It is highly effective at stopping spark knock and "dieseling" in high-compression or older engines.Because of its high concentration of organo-manganese (MMT), Lucas officially labels the most potent versions for off-road and racing use only to meet certain federal environmental standards, though it is widely used by enthusiasts on the street.It is fully compatible with all gasoline grades (leaded and unleaded) and ethanol blends.
